iPhone: no Google "My Maps"?

The iPhone maps application won't access your personal maps, those markers that you put on maps (the "My Maps") when using Google Maps on your desktop computer.

I didn't notice the omission until I planned a week-end trip putting markers on a map. And then? I realised I was stuck. After googling a bit, I realised the feature wasn't there. After googling a bit more, I realised that some bit and pieces were in place... Hence I made my own service to access my maps on the iPhone.

Note that Google is not providing public APIs to access this information, and as such they might consider this usage to be abusive, in which case I will have to redraw this service.

Empadão de Carne

Receita simples, para 4 pessoas

Ingredientes:

Para o recheio:
- 500 grs. de carne de vitela picada
- 1 cebola média
- 2 dl de vinho branco
- 1 dente de alho
- 1 dl caldo de carne
- 2 colheres de sopa de margarina
- 1 colher de sopa de azeite
- 2 colheres de sopa de polpa de tomate
- azeitonas pretas para decorar q.b.

Para o puré:
- 1kg e 200 grs. de batatas
- 1,5 dl de leite
- sal q.b.
- pimenta em pó q.b.
- 1 pitada de noz-moscada
- 1 colher de sopa bem cheia de manteiga ou margarina
- gema de ovo para pincelar q.b.

Preparação:

Recheio:
Leve um tachinho ao lume com a margarina, o azeite e a cebola e alho picados e deixe refogar até alourar. Junte a carne picada, mexa bem, junte o vinho branco, a polpa de tomate e o caldo de carne, tempere com sal e pimenta. Deixe estufar cerca de 15 minutos em lume médio mexendo de vez em quando. Depois de estufada reserve.

Puré:
Descasque lave e coza as batatas, depois de cozidas passe-as no passe-vite, junte ao puré a manteiga ou margarina, o leite e mexa muito bem (o puré deve ficar fofo).
Tempere com sal pimenta e noz-moscada.

Finalmente...
Deite uma camada de puré num pirex e alise, por cima o estufado da carne, tape com o restante puré, pincele com gema de ovo e leve ao forno quente a alourar.
Caso goste, antes de pincelar pode espetar algumas umas azeitonas pretas.
Sirva acompanhado com uma salada verde ou mista.

Ervilhas com chouriço (Guisantes con chorizo)

Receita simples, para 3/4 pessoas

Ingredientes:
- 2 cebolas picadas
- um chourico, cortado aos cubinhos
- 500g de ervilhas pré-cozidas
- azeite
- sal

Preparação:
Põe-se a cebola picada a alourar numa frigideira, com azeite, em lume brando.
Depois junta-se o chouriço e sal a gosto. O chouriço vai libertar gordura e tingir a cebola.
Passados alguns minutos (e antes que o chouriço perca tanta gordura que seque), juntam-se as ervilhas que devem ficar pouco tempo, o suficiente para absorver alguma da gordura do chouriço.

Bolo de Bolacha II

Ingredientes:

1 lata de leite condensado
a mesma medida de leite normal
5 ovos
bolachas maria q.b.
café forte q.b.
1 pacote de natas (200ml)
1 colher de sopa de açúcar
canela q.b.

Preparação:

Misture o leite condensado com o leite e as gemas, bata muito bem com a batedeira, e leve a lume brando, mexendo sempre até levantar fervura. Molhe as bolachas no café morno.
Num prato ou travessa coloque camadas alternadas de bolachas, e creme, sendo a última de creme. Bata as natas com o açúcar. Bata também as claras em castelo. Junte as claras, às natas e misture.
Deite a mistura sobre as camadas de creme e bolacha. Por fim polvilhe com canela a gosto.
Leve ao frigorífico e sirva bem frio.

TAP website is fantastic!

I went there again - just for fun! - and found out that if you filter your choices by price range, you are actually setting the price for the flight, and not viewing flights up to that price, as one would expect.

I selected flight prices of 85 Eur. And - chan chan - my flight is now alvailable (total price 250 Eur).
And no, the flight is realy not available for the lowest price advertised (I tried again).

Conclusion: you realy have to spend a lot of time on TAP's website in order to actually get a flight. One basically has to bargain with them, offering more than what they are initially asking for. And - this will come as a shock - offering the highest fares (425 + 205 Eur) doesn't work: "A tarifa seleccionada já não se encontra disponível. Por favor, seleccione outra tarifa."

How can one not love them?...

I was just trying to get a ticket for going to Portugal in October.
I started yesterday.

Since I want to make direct flights (Munich -> Lisbon and back), I just have TAP and Lufthansa to choose from.
Luftansa asked between 200 and 300 Eur for most flights.

I knew bying through TAP is usualy more expensive (although most flights are operated by TAP, it is actualy cheaper to book through Luftansa's website), but let's check it out...
Cool, the flight I was looking for is cheap there too! But TAP bookings are so complicated I'll know exactly how much only while doing an actual booking.
I try to book - and surprise - I get a "A tarifa seleccionada já não se encontra disponível. Por favor, seleccione outra tarifa." message. They should fire whoever designed the website.

So I go back to Lufthansa's website. The flight I was unable to book costs 220 Eur. I try to book it, only to find I forgot my credit card. Argh... Let's try tomorrow.

So today morning I happily went to book the same flight. Surprise! Today it costs 270 Eur. Ok... I'll wait to see if it gets cheaper...

So this afternoon, there I go again. Now economy is no longer available if I try to get both the departure and arrival time I want (choosing only one of them is OK, though!). I would have to pay some absurd 1000+ Eur!
Frustrated and angry, I try to log in to Luftansa's web as living in Portugal (yes, that makes a difference, my friends!) and I find out the few less expensive flights actually contain my option. F***** b*******! I log in again as german, and there was my cheap fare (220Eur).

Finaly! I just wonder if the ulcera I am getting on this account is worth the money I'm saving...
